About HLA
Hettie Legg & Associates is an outpatient clinic in Nacogdoches, Texas that provides Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy to patients of all ages. HLA is a company grounded in Christian values of humility, honesty, integrity, respect, kindness, and a sense of community responsibility. Our primary purpose is to follow God’s leadership to provide the highest level of compassionate care and treatment for all the people we serve. We strive to create eternal value by honoring God in all we do. This is reflected in how we conduct our business and how we care for our employees.

So how did Hettie Legg & Associates, LLC come to be?
Hettie Legg, our founder, began her journey with Speech Language Pathology while she was attending Auburn University. Her interest in the field was peaked after hearing a classmate's presentation about working on speech with a child with Down Syndrome. After hearing her classmate's experience, she dived into research and clinical hours, and never looked back. She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology in 1969, and continued to receive her Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from Michigan State University in 1970. She worked in the public schools until 1973, when she and her husband moved to Nacogdoches, Texas and began teaching at SFASU. Hettie always knew she was called to go into private practice, and in 1981 she decided it was time to start this new adventure.
Hettie formed her own private practice in June of that year, the first speech pathology private practice in Nacogdoches. She hoped she would be able to find a few patients to see in the morning and spend the afternoon with her family. She was astonished by the number of patients who sought her help. Within a few years, the practice had expanded to the point where Hettie began to hire other therapists to help with the case load. In 1992, Hettie moved the practice from her own home, to a house on Ochiltree Street. Hettie Legg & Associates continued to grow, and in 1999 Hettie hired Robin Miller as her business manager.
In 2008, HLA became Hettie Legg & Associates LLC. The current board of owners is composed of Hettie Legg, Robin Miller, and Virginia Johns.
In 2011, HLA moved to it's current location, 817 N. Mound St., in order to better service the community and increase it's outreach. The building has been renovated and remodeled throughout the years to accommodate an ever increasing amount of staff and patients. In 2015, HLA expanded to include Occupational and Physical Therapy services. In 2022, a new addition was added to house a brand new gym, full kitchen, and 10 therapy rooms for our therapists to use with the patients. Hettie Legg & Associates has been continually blessed with opportunities and support to help it grow and change, and we are excited to see what the future brings.
